Overview
The Napster app for iPhone and iPad lets you create original AI-generated songs in a live conversation with an AI musician. This article covers the music creation flow on iOS.
System requirements
The Napster app requires iOS 16.0 or later. Download it free from the Apple App Store. A Napster account is required to create music.
How to create a song on iPhone and iPad
- Open the Napster app and sign in to your account.
- On the home screen, tap the music specialist you want to work with.
- Describe your song in the chat — genre, mood, theme, or anything that inspires you.
- Your AI musician will draft lyrics. Read through them in the chat window.
- Copy the lyrics now if you want to keep them — they will not be available after production.
- Tap Produce when you are ready. One song is generated per session.
- Your finished track appears in My Creations. Tap the title to rename it.
⚠ Save your lyrics before producing — Lyrics appear in the chat window during your session with your AI musician. They are not stored after you tap Produce and cannot be recovered. Copy them to your notes before generating.
ℹ One song per generation (updated April 2026) — The app now generates one song per production session. To get a different version, start a new session and adjust your prompt or lyrics.
Editing your song title
You can set a custom title during the generation step, or rename your track any time from My Creations. Tap the song, then tap the title to edit it.
Favoriting companions
You can favorite an AI musician directly from inside a conversation, or from search results. Favorites appear at the top of the home screen for quick access.
App language
The app is available in English, French, Spanish, and German. Tap the language picker in the top-right corner to switch. Your preference is saved across sessions.
Known issues on iPhone and iPad
Cover image upload: The option to upload a custom photo for cover art may not appear during song preview on some iOS versions. As a workaround, use the web app at app.napster.com to set a custom cover image.
Song sharing link: Shared song links may open the app without playing the song. This is a known issue being investigated. Tap My Creations to locate and play the track manually.
