The Napster for Mac App and Napster View require a specific minimum macOS version. Installing on an unsupported version will fail with a red prohibited sign or a "not available in your region or on this device" error.
Supported macOS versions
| macOS Version | Supported? |
|---|---|
| macOS Tahoe (26.x) | Yes |
| macOS Sequoia (15.x) | Yes |
| macOS Sonoma (14.x) and earlier | No - not supported |
I see a red prohibited sign when trying to install. What should I do?
A red prohibited icon during installation means your macOS version is not supported. You need to update to macOS Sequoia or macOS Tahoe before the Napster for Mac App will install.
- Open System Settings → General → Software Update.
- Install the latest available macOS update (Sequoia or Tahoe).
- Once updated, download and install the Napster for Mac App from napster.ai/apps.
I cannot update my macOS. Can I still use Napster View?
No. macOS Sonoma and earlier are not supported and there is no workaround. Napster View requires the Napster for Mac App, which only runs on Sequoia and Tahoe.
Does my Mac model matter?
Yes. Napster View and the Napster for Mac App require Apple silicon (M1 chip or newer). Intel-based Macs are not supported regardless of macOS version.
Still having trouble installing?
Submit a support ticket with your Mac model, macOS version, and a screenshot of the error.
