Napster provides voice cloning and voice synthesis tools (Voice Tools) that allow you to create synthetic voice representations. The following rules apply to all use of Voice Tools across Napster products.
Your own voice
You may use Voice Tools to create a synthetic representation of your own voice (a Personal Voice Model). By doing so, you confirm that the voice input you provide is exclusively your own.
Cloning another person's voice
You may create a synthetic voice representation of another private individual only if you have their prior, express, written consent (Voice Consent) specifically authorizing the creation and intended use of the voice model. You must:
- Obtain Voice Consent before creating the voice model
- Ensure the consent accurately describes the scope, purpose, and duration of intended use
- Keep records of the consent for a minimum of 3 years
- Stop using the voice model immediately if consent is revoked
Public figures and celebrities — absolute prohibition
You may not use Voice Tools to create, simulate, replicate, or approximate the voice of any public figure, celebrity, recording artist, athlete, politician, or other individual whose voice has commercial value or is subject to rights of publicity — regardless of the intended purpose. Attempts to bypass Napster's voice detection controls constitute a material breach of the Terms of Service and may result in immediate account termination.
Prohibited uses — all voice output
You may not use Voice Tools or any voice output to:
- Create deepfakes, non-consensual intimate audio, or content designed to deceive or harm any individual
- Impersonate anyone in connection with financial transactions, legal proceedings, or electoral activity
- Generate soundalikes designed to circumvent music licensing obligations
- Violate any applicable federal, state, or local synthetic media or voice cloning law, including the Tennessee ELVIS Act
Disclosure requirement
When you publish or distribute any voice output generated through Voice Tools that depicts a real individual's voice, you must include a clear and conspicuous disclosure identifying the content as AI-generated or synthetic, consistent with applicable law in the jurisdiction(s) where the content is published — including California AB 602 and AB 2602, and any substantially similar statutes.
