Follow these steps to download and install Napster for Mac.
Before you start
Confirm your Mac meets the system requirements: Apple Silicon (M1 or later), macOS Sequoia 15.0+. See What are the system requirements?
Step 1 — Download the app
Go to napster.com/napster-for-mac and click Download for Mac. The app is a direct DMG download — it is not available on the Mac App Store.
Step 2 — Open the installer
Open the downloaded .dmg file and drag the Napster app to your Applications folder.
Step 3 — First launch
Open the app from Applications. On first launch:
- macOS may show an "unidentified developer" warning — right-click the app and select Open, then click Open Anyway.
- The app installs OpenClaw VM and other AI dependencies silently. This takes 3–8 minutes on first run — leave it open and wait. Do not force-quit during this process.
- On v1.7.3+, a branded loading screen with a progress percentage will show while dependencies install.
Step 4 — Sign in
Sign in with your Napster account. If you don't have one, create a free account at app.napster.com. A 60-minute free trial is available — no credit card required.
Step 5 — Allow permissions
Grant microphone and camera access when prompted by macOS. The app requires both for Companion video sessions. If you miss the prompt, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone / Camera and enable Napster manually.
