All audio equipment differs and to get the best sound, we recommend referring to the manufacturer of your devices. However, there are some tips that are good to know:
Bluetooth
Lossless audio will play back normally on bluetooth headphones. However, Bluetooth compression results in a reduction in quality - for the best audio quality we recommend using wired headphones.
DACs (Digital-to-analog converters)
DACs convert digital signals to analogue. You don’t need a DAC to listen to higher quality audio on Napster - but they can help your device output the highest audio quality possible.
Some devices will have DACs built in that are limited to lower sample rates - refer to your manufacturer to find out what sample rate your device is capable of.
To get a higher sample rate from these devices you will need an external DAC, these come in different forms but can often connect over USB from your computer or phone - you may need an adapter to use these with your phone.
Internet Speed
Higher audio qualities require faster internet speeds and use more mobile data if you’re on the move.
You can choose different audio qualities for when you’re listening on WiFi or using Mobile Data. This can be changed under ‘Audio Settings’ under the settings menu.
