How to turn on error logging for Napster 6 software

This article contains instructions on how to gather the error logs while facing any issues with the Napster 6 PC software. This will help us to know the exact issue and fix it.

Please follow the steps below to turn on and off error logging for Windows 7 and 8 OS

 

WINDOWS 7:

1.    Click the Windows button in the bottom left corner
2.    Enter “Environment Variables” in the Search box and hit the Enter

3.    Click “New” under the “User Variables For Administrator” box
4.    Enter “Rhapsody_Logging” in the “Variable name” box
5.    Enter “Console” in the “Variable value” box
6.    Click “OK” to close all open boxes and close any other open windows

7.    Open Napster 6. A black window also opens showing a log file being created.
8.    Use Napster 6 to reproduce the problem. The log file will write down what happened.
9.    After the problem occurs, leave Napster open
10.  Click the Windows button the bottom left corner
11.  Enter “Task Manager” in the Search box and hit Enter. The Task Manager will open.
12.  Click the “Processes” tab
12.  Scroll to “Napster.exe”
13.  Right-click on ‘Napster.exe”
14.  Choose “Open file location." A new window will open.

15.  Scroll to “Rhapody.Windows.log.txt”
16.  Drag “Rhapsody.Windows.log.txt” to the desktop ( Note: Please close Napster PC client before you drag this file to the desktop)
17.  Attach “Rhapsody.Windows.log.txt” to an email and send it to help@Napster.com with the subject line “Napster 6 log file.” Please also include a short summary of the problem.

Now you can turn off logging:

1. Close Napster 6
2. Click the Windows button in the bottom left corner
3. Enter “Environment Variables” in the Search box and hit Enter
4. Click “Rhapsody_Logging” in the “User Variables For Administrator” box
5. Click “Delete”
6. Click “OK” to close out of all the open dialog boxes and close any other open windows
7. Re-open Napster 6. The black logging window does not appear, which confirms that logging has been turned off.

 

WINDOWS 8 (classic desktop view)

1.    Right-click the Windows button in the bottom left corner
2.    Click “Search”
3.    Enter “Environment Variables” in the Search box and hit Enter. A new window opens.

4.    Click “New” under the “User Variables For Administrator” box
5.    Enter “Rhapsody_Logging” in the “Variable name” box
6.    Enter “Console” in the “Variable value” box
7.    Click “OK” to close all open boxes and close any other windows

16.  Choose “Open file location”

17.  Scroll to “Rhapsody.Windows.log.txt”
18.  Close Napster 6
19.  Drag “Rhapsody.Windows.log.txt” to the desktop  ( Note: Please close Napster PC client before you drag this file to the desktop)
20.  Attach “Rhapsody.Windows.log.txt” to an email and send it to help@Napster.com with the subject line “Napster 6 log file.” Please include a short summary of the problem.

Now you can turn off logging:

2.    Enter “Environment Variables” in the Search box and hit Enter

3.    Click “New” under the “User Variables For Administrator” box
4.    Enter “Rhapsody_Logging” in the “Variable Name” box
5.    Enter “Console” in the “Variable value” box
6.    Click “OK” to exit all open boxes and close any other open windows
